The Spot on Kirk is happy to bring a variety of four local Roanoke songwriters together to perform their original songs in a back-to-back fashion. Come support your favorite local songwriter and discover other great original music within our community!
Landon Carder:
“ Coming from a musical background, Landon Carder, takes influence from artists such as Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Grateful Dead, and Keller Williams. Writing songs about life in the 21st century as well as old time motifs, Landon uses his clever and charming songs to serenade audiences across the map. His hit song ‘Mushroom Song’ can be found on Spotify, and all other streaming services. Landon also plays in a band, called Orange Culture. They have music on all streaming platforms also, with a new album on the way in 2022. “

Matt Powell:
Matt Powell is a Virginia native born and raised in Franklin County. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter with an impressive range of blues, rock, bluegrass, country, and pop and has spent the majority of his life and career residing in Austin, Texas. There he honed his craft, fronted his own groups, and played guitar for several Texas country favorites. He has also recorded eight of his own solo albums and produced recordings for numerous other artists, as well as recording a deep catalog of television and movie material that has made its way to both screens. Since relocating back home to Roanoke he plays frequently at many of the best spots where you can listen to great music. With amazing thoughtful songs, a well seasoned soulful voice, and guitar chops to match them both, Powell hands down performs some of the finest Americana music you’ll ever hope to hear."
Corey Hunley:
“Corey Hunley is just a guy passing through life with a guitar in his hand and a song in his head. He has been fortunate to have shared the stage with Martin Stewart, Darrell Scott, Will Hodge, John Hiatt, Paul Thorn, Colbie Caillat, Uncle Kracker and a few other cool folks. A singer songwriter that has the ability to grab the audience."

Sullivan Smith:
" Sullivan Smith is an American singer-songwriter. He is the front man of the indie rock band The Stray Lions. He did not find a wide audience during his lifetime, but his work has gradually achieved wider notice and recognition after becoming a recluse. His current whereabouts are unknown."
